RegattaLens Terms of Use

Updated: August 3, 2026

What this service is

RegattaLens is a platform for running and broadcasting sailing races: the organiser runs the regatta, competitors send their boat's position from the RegattaLens Tracker app, and spectators follow the race and the results. By using the service or the app you accept these terms.

Safety on the water

RegattaLens is not a navigation, communication or rescue device. Data arrives with a delay and may be interrupted or lost — because of network coverage, phone battery or operating-system limits. Do not make decisions on the water based on the app: the helmsman is responsible for the safety of the crew and the boat, and navigation and collision avoidance are done with proper means under the COLREGs.

Racing and results

Automatic start, rounding and finish marks are a tool for the race committee, not an official result. Official results and rule decisions are announced by the race and protest committees under the Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS). The organiser may correct race data and rescore the series.

Your account

What you must not do

Data entered by the organiser

The club is responsible for what it enters: the boat list, crews and regatta documents — including having people's consent to process their data. How we handle data is described in the privacy policy.

Availability

We do our best to keep the service running, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted operation: there are updates, failures and outages at network providers. The service is provided "as is".

Suspension

We may limit or close access to an account that is used in breach of these terms or that threatens the operation of the service.

Liability

To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for sporting results, lost profit, or damage caused by service interruptions or by inaccurate tracking data.

Changes

These terms may change. The current version is always on this page, with the update date at the top.
